RISE: a nonprofit helping acid attack survivors
In addition to her work with immigrants and refugees in the US, Dr. Vredeveld founded and directs RISE, a US-based 501c3 nonprofit working to end acid violence internationally. She has traveled to Uganda, India, and Nepal to work with acid attack survivors and survivor organizations. She is passionate about empowering survivors and helping them find opportunities for post-traumatic growth after their attack. She is also passionate about empowering people in the US to find practical and meaningful ways to become involved in human rights advocacy.
