Clinical Psychologist

Dr. McCarren is a clinical psychologist licensed in OH (#6651).  She is the co-founder of MindWise Therapy and Mental Health Consultation.  Prior to opening MindWise, Dr. McCarren worked as a professor at Xavier University and provided consultation at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. McCarren obtained her doctoral degree in clinical psychology (PhD) from Bowling Green State University in 2008. She provides N-648 and VAWA evaluations for Immigration Psychology Services.

Dr. McCarren’s extensive background in system change combined with her clinical evaluation skills make her well poised to help clients seeking assistance through Immigration Psychology Services. Heather specifically started MindWise to help students receive mental health support and they are currently growing their support specifically for international graduate and undergraduate students. Additionally, she has a special interest in supporting clients of all ages experiencing high levels of stress due to the current political climate.

Dr. McCarren was born and raised in Cincinnati, specifically in Clifton. Heather helped start a public school in Clifton with the vision of giving children the opportunity to learn what they have in common with people from different parts of the world. Clifton Area Neighborhood School is now flourishing, with a robust ESL program and a culturally diverse student body.
